My dear friend, do you remember the Armstrong case?

BOUC
Yes, I do. A little girl was kidnapped and found dead.

POIROT
And do you remember her name?

BOUC
Of course, it was Daisy!

POIROT
D. A. I.

BOUC
S. Y. and ARMS

POIROT
Daisy Armstrong !

BOUC
So you think Ratchett…

POIROT
No, in fact, the kidnapper was condemned. But the culprit disappeared with the money.

BOUC
I remember he had an Italian name.

POIROT
Cassetti !

BOUC
Ah ! What a monster! What a coward! How could he kill a child!

POIROT
It’s even worse than that! After the death of the child, Mrs Armstrong gave birth to a stillborn baby and she died herself…

BOUC
…and her husband Colonel Armstrong committed suicide. And Mrs Armstrong’s personal maid was accused.
And she threw herself through the window.

POIROT
That makes 5 victims. You hear me : 5 !

BOUC
Fate was fair, then. Cassetti also died a violent death.
