Hundreds of people who were stranded because of blizzards and icy conditions are now starting their home.

More than people spent the night in leisure centres in Cornwall as ground to a halt.

This included a coachload of 40 from Cornwall College in St Austell and about 60 .

Forecasters are warning that Saturday night could see heavy fall again in eastern and western Scotland and lighter snow in Anglia.

More than 300 pupils trapped in a snowed-in school in Newquay avoided an overnight stay after being rescued by and friends using and four-wheel drive vehicles.

The Royal Marines were called in to rescue up to motorists stranded in snow on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall.
