Stranded motorists make way home - 11 words
Hundreds of people who were stranded because of blizzards and icy conditions
are now starting their journey
home.
More than 500 people spent the
night in leisure centres in Cornwall as traffic
ground to a halt.
This included a coachload of 40 teenagers
from Cornwall College in St Austell and about 60 children.
Forecasters are warning that Saturday night could see heavy snow
fall again in eastern and western Scotland and lighter snow in East
Anglia.
More than 300 pupils trapped in a snowed-in school in Newquay avoided an overnight
stay after being rescued by family
and friends using tractors and
four-wheel drive vehicles.
The Royal Marines were called in to rescue up to 1,000
motorists stranded in snow on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall.
Cornish police believe it will take most of the weekend before everything
returns to normal.
