Japan Hit by Worst Recorded Snow

At least people have died and more than have been injured in heavy in Japan which started last month.

In some areas the snow is metres deep and it's believed to be the snowfall on Japanese record.

The Japanese army has sent troops to the northern state of Akita and 100 troops to Nagano and Niigata which were the worst effected areas.

The Japanese weather centre has warned that a predicted rise in could now trigger avalanches.

Many when the weight of the snow caused the roofs of their houses to collapse.

The snow, which affected areas, has now stopped in central Japan.

Local have appealed to members of the public to elderly people affected by the snow.
